Global Warming Alarmists Suffering Glacier-Sized Setbacks

It is irresponsible of global warming alarmists to continue advocating for lower CO2 levels. Instead of saving the planet, they risk speeding up global cooling, sending the earth into another ice age. The truth is, the green movement is now a big money making racket, and there is so much money available in government grants that greedy environmental zealots don’t want to give it up. Sadly, honest scientists are being swayed to go along with it, since to go afoul of the politically correct position means the grants dry up.

Global warming alarmists continue to suffer blow after blow, as more evidence comes out refuting their claims of man-made global warming. The end of 2013 marked the 17th consecutive year without global warming. It is looking to be one of the coldest winters on record for much of the country and the world. During the second week of December, there were over 2,000 record low temperatures across the U.S., according to the National Weather Service and HamWeather records center. It snowed for the first time in over a century in Cairo, Egypt. If anything, there has been global cooling occurring over the past decade.

Global warming alarmists preach that man-made carbon dioxide (CO2) is increasing the world’s temperatures, so man must refrain from activities that produce CO2 like burning coal and oil. First of all, CO2 is not a dangerous pollutant. Plants breathe it. Historically, it has not caused glaciers to melt. Global warming alarmists put the cart before the horse when they make this accusation. Throughout history, increases in CO2 have occurred after glaciers began melting.

Additionally, the world was warmer during the Middle Ages and the Roman Empire. This is evidence that manmade global warming is not the driving force behind global warming.

The Polar Ice is Increasing

With the Antarctic ice at a 35-year high, it has been expanding for two years now, not receding. Last winter, Antarctic ice expanded more than anytime since 1979, when recording began. Global warming alarmists point to hurricanes as evidence of global warming, but there haven’t been any major hurricanes since 2005. Hurricane Sandy was not a major hurricane, it was a tropical storm. Over the past hundred years, since hurricanes were recorded, there has been no increase.

The conservative Heartland Institute recently issued a report on global warming compiled by an impressive team of staff scientists who have neither  ties nor agenda. Made up of 50 climate scientists from 15 countries, the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) was created to act as an independent auditor of the work of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The organization presents a stark contrast to the UN, which is a government agency with an agenda of discovering man-made global warming. Dr. Richard Lindzen, a leading scientist from MIT, said the UN’s report “has truly sunk to a level of hilarious incoherence” because it continues to assert man-made global warming is a problem despite all the evidence to the contrary.

The NIPCC published Climate Change Reconsidered II: Physical Science just weeks before the UN issued its latest climate report last September. The NIPCC report listed a whopping 59 contentions providing evidence against man-made global warming, too many to list here.

Legitimate scientists are increasingly speaking out against the global warming ruse. A group of former NASA and climate scientists have put together a website at therightclimatestuff.com to get to the bottom of the global warming scare. They determined there is no settled scientific evidence that man causes global warming. In addition, they found there is no convincing physical evidence that man is causing catastrophic global warming. The study warned that the government is overreacting to concerns about manmade global warming.

A recent poll by the American Meteorological Society found that only 52 percent of its members believe global warming is occurring and caused mostly by humans. The peer-reviewed journal Climate Dynamics recently issued a report determining that any global warming stopped 15 years ago. The sea level rises seven inches per century, due to factors unrelated to manmade global warming.

The Little Ice Age

Russian scientists are warning that we could soon enter a Little Ice Age by as soon as 2055. More and more climatologists and scientists are standing up and stating the obvious. “We are already in a cooling trend, which I think will continue for the next 15 years at least, said Professor Anastasios Tsonis of the University of Wisconsin. “There is no doubt the warming of the 1980s and 1990s has stopped.”

There were so many setbacks to the global warming hype in 2013 that Michael Batasch of the Daily Caller News Foundation compiled seven of them in an end-of-the-year roundup.

There is some indication the global warming crowd may be finally backing off. They have sneakily started referring to “climate change” instead of global warming, unable to explain the lack of global warming over the past 15 years.

Objective scientists – those who aren’t in the pockets of the global warming crowd – are now looking to non-man-made causes of climate change, such as sunspots and natural climate variations. Sunspots are receding on the sun faster than they have at any time within the past 10,000 years.  In the past, periods of fewer sunspots correlated with ice ages and global cooling.

According to a study done by Dr. Roy Spencer of the University of Alabama, Huntsville, half the global warming that has occurred since the 1970s is attributable to natural weather disturbances caused by El Nino across the Pacific Ocean. El Nino’s warming periods alternate with El Nina cooling trends, and in 1998 an El Nina cooling trend began.

Ironically, global warming alarmists were literally defeated by glaciers in December. A team of scientists led by Chris Turney, a professor of climate change at Australia’s University of New South Wales, went on a scientific expedition to Antarctica to investigate melting of the ice cap. Instead, the ice built up, trapping them and their ship.

Sadly, the truth is being suppressed. The Los Angeles Times announced it will not print letters to the editor questioning man-made global warming. Journalist Michael Fumento succinctly describes the problem of how global warming is being forced upon us, “People have a right to religious and cult beliefs within reason. But the warmists have been proven wrong time and again, each time reacting with little more than pictures of forlorn polar bears on ice floes and trying to shut down the opposition.”
